Floreo was invited to present at a congressional briefing sponsored by Autism Speaks titled “Challenges and Opportunities to Improve Law Enforcement Interactions with the Autism Community”. In addition to being able to present Floreo’s work on developing VR-based training for safely interacting with law enforcement, we were able to also be alongside Officer Laurie Reyes of the Montgomery Country (MD) Police Department who was an invaluable expert in helping us develop our curriculum. This curriculum is currently in an NIH/NIMH funded research study being conducted by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Center for Autism Research. Autism Speaks has published the full video of the briefing and you can specifically hear Floreo’s presentation at 16:45.
